Embark on a fantastical Spaghetti Western adventure as you take the role of Gunther Pine, a retired gunslinger brought back to the fray. You've been tasked to return several escaped souls to Death, and in return, he has offered you chance to reclaim your own soul. Duel legendary gunslingers and beasts alike, find new cards, and outwit Death himself in a high-stakes game of classic Texas Hold'Em.
How are you going to make it out of this one? The choice is yours in The Gamble of Gunther Pine
Gunther Pine thought his gunslinging days were behind him, until a stranger showed up and offered him an ultimatum. When he lost the duel, Death offered him a second chance - for a price, of course. If he's to get his soul back, he's going to have to bring more souls to Death, and win his soul back in a game of chance. Gunther must now explore the open West to find these enemies, and bring justice to the afterlife itself.
The Gamble of Gunther Pine alternates between two different modes of play: the explorable world and the game with Death. While exploring through the world and defeating enemies and bosses, you will discover new cards and powerups that you will be able to use in the game with Death, that you will be able to use to your advantage so that you can win big. In the game of Death, some bosses that you have defeated will add upgrades for you to the central pot, allowing you to win them through wit, skill, and a little bit of bluffing.
Saloons can be found throughout the world of The Gamble of Gunther Pine. These act as rest areas in the game, for you to save your progress, buy items, and each one offers you a chance to play against Death. When you die, you'll start a new round of poker with Death, giving you a chance for both permanent and temporary upgrades for your next attempt.
Gunther starts the game with his trusy sidearm, which you will be able to freely aim in the direction you press the left stick or your mouse. You have six bullets at the start of the game, which represent both your current ammunition count and your hit points. When you are hit, it decreases your maximum bullet count, which in turn increases the damage output of each bullet. You can use this to your advantage by keeping a balance of taking damage, dealing damage, and healing from the damage you've taken.
As you explore the world and defeat bosses, you will have the opportunity to both expand and upgrade your arsenal. This includes key items, such as:
